Seats
The majority of 3 wheel double buggies start life as single pushchairs. However, some can convert to take a second seat or carrycot by converting adapters (these are more commonly found in tandem buggies). Some models allow you to add an additional board for older children who are able to walk, but still need some help.
Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for a lightweight option perfect for city streets. It's easy to maneuver, and it has a large basket with lots of storage. It can accommodate twins from at birth and will accept two car seats, or a carrycot with a seat. The seats are required to face forwards and there's not enough space to store a bag of groceries underneath and you'll need a sidepack to do that.
If you like to take off-road trips, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a great option. It is a side by tandem with the smallest footprint of any double buggy on the market. It is easier to get through narrow doors on public transport, and to climb over and up kerbs. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the adjustable handlebar to provide additional security and safety.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most well-known double buggies on the market due to its outstanding comfort. It's an all terrain pushchair, with a soft suspension to make light work of bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate up to 30 seating configurations, and comes with an integrated ride-on board that can be used for older children who prefer walking, and a 'cinema seating' mode that raises the back of the seat to allow for better visibility.
The phil&teds dot is a fantastic single buggy that is available from day one that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3!) Different configurations are possible. This is especially useful if you have a baby in your car. The frame can be fitted to a wedgie, which allows for the most optimal lying-flat position. Or car seat adapters that fit various brands.

Suspension
The quality of the suspension in a 3 wheel double buggy is crucial to how easy it will be for you and your baby/s to push. It is crucial to have a smooth ride because babies can feel every bump on the road. This is especially relevant if you drive on rough terrain such as grass or roads that are not paved. Some models also have locking front wheels to assist in maneuvering and navigating obstacles such as curbs.
Some models come with air-filled tyres that provide a fantastic all-terrain experience, but they can be prone to punctures so ensure you have spares in the trunk. Certain models come with gel-filled or foam-filled tyres which are designed to cushion bumps. They are less likely to puncture, however they may cause discomfort for your child if they decide to jog.

Folding
A three-wheeled double buggy can be folded in a neat manner for storage.
